About NORSA. Our history.

NORSA started as a vision in the heart of Riekie Van Den Berg, founder of SA Cares For Life. It became a dream for us in The Cape and became reality during September 2006. SA Cares For Life, Procare, ATKV and Children Of The World Norway took up this challenge.

NORSA is a NGO and functions as a Section 21 company, with registration number: 2006/021925/08.

NORSA focuses on the development of community based projects with specific focus on families and children infected/affected with HIV/AIDS, TB and extreme poverty. The aim of our projects is to change the destiny of families and children in need.

HIV/AIDS is a reality and a huge problem in South Africa. The reality about this pandemic is that it has a huge impact on children as lots of them are infected/affected with HIV/AIDS or left behind as orphans.

NORSA grew from strength to strength in a very short period. Two community centres have been developed in two different areas where children and adults in need receive care and support.

God connected people, organisations, projects, sponsors and everything we needed on the exact time it was needed. God's faithfulness together with the generous support of everybody involved within this organisation, ensured that after just more than two years large numbers of families and children in need have hope and started to dream again.

Focus areas

NORSA is currently focusing on three areas: Wellington, De Doorns and Sandhills.
The dynamics within these areas are as follows:

  1. High prevalence of HIV/AIDS infection
  2. Unemployment and bad socio-economic circumstances
  3. Lots of children who are exposed to these bad circumstances
  4. Large numbers of pre-school children who do not receive any stimulation
  5. Large numbers of children infected/affected with HIV/AIDS and or TB
  6. Large numbers of children who are deprived from their most basic needs, like food.

NORSA became aware of these needs and started to develop projects to the benefit of children and families in need. Due to the dire need, the projects developed very quickly.

Our aim is to change the destiny of families and specific children in need and we committed ourselves to these communities. Our aim is further to get involved in the lives of the children to break the circle of destructive lifestyles.

All these children have the potential to make a success of their lives. They however need us to provide the necessary opportunities to them.

To enable us to maintain quality service delivery, we need ongoing support.
